Blue Flower

Thursday 17/3/2022 We loaded the trailer with more Green Grant items including solar panels and display screens which we took to the mill and locked in the container, we saw a Buzzard on the way. Pied and Grey Wagtails were flying around at the mill, two Grey Wagtail boxes were taken today which will be fitted to the river wall soon. Swans were in their usual place again.

We opened the new sacks of Nyger seed and Peanuts, unpacked the Nyger and seed feeders, filled them up and put them in the trees, the remaining feed was put in sealed tubs for safe storage. We watched birds feeding most of the day, the tall seed feeder should keep them going for several days. Eddie unpacked the new watering can and watered the Lupin plants as well as Daffodils which are flowering in the grindstones.

We drilled fixing holes in the Owl and Kestrel boxes and fitted the Little Owl box in a tree, I fitted a camera in the latest tall nest box, these jobs needed our new box of screws and Allen keys from the new cycle repair tool kit. The last job was unpacking the fridge, this will be used for cooling milk and soft drinks on open days.

Saturday 19/3/2022 We will need the tractor and trailer for taking the new shed to site but the trailer platform was rotten. Fred had already stripped the old wood platform off and welded in new steel box sections. On Saturday four of us fitted a plywood platform, covered with a sheet of steel, with angled steel edging welded all round. Beryl gave us hot sausage rolls and cakes for lunch and in the afternoon we fitted new wooden planks to the bulkhead which completes the trailer refurbishment. No grant money was spent on the trailer.

Thursday 24/3/2022 There was no work party this Thursday as Eddie had a fall, I had a foot injury, and no one else was available. However I worked from home, taking delivery of more grant items including a bird feeding station, 12 Volt cable reel, staple gun and Kingfisher tunnel which is a replacement for one which arrived broken. I unpacked and checked all deliveries.

I made several slideshow videos of the mill restoration for our display screens and sorted out tools I inherited from my Dad to take to the mill next time. I also wrote the bone mill report for the Annual Parish Meeting on 4/4/22 where all village organisations report on their activities over the last year.
